In our first episode, we cover a slice of Mordenkainen’s Tome of Foes. Brad, Joe, Logan, and Leigh discuss the lore on Elves provided within the new book, as well as the additional elven subraces and their abilities. These views are our own.
This episode about the elven lore and history is super interesting and neat, specially how they introduce the whole idea of their past life’s and eleven souls.
In the podcast, y’all were talking about how elevs use their trance to contact their past life’s memories and this gave me a thought. As y’all were discussing how they go on to their trance it reminded me a lot about “Avatar The Last Air Bender” and how the main character goes on trance to talk to his past life. Thinking about it, I can visualize something similar for the elves, they go on the trance to recollect certain their past lives (and with DM’s permission) one might even talk to the person they were before instead of just having flashbacks screens of what happened. Visualizing the trance like this helps me clear out as well as decide weather the player want their past to be part of their main story (example: their past life self had a mission that they didn’t complete so they so that now becomes the player’s main quest. Or, it can be just another archives that the elves have access to and can be used to just help the current character in their own personal quest without their past lives really shifting their own character’s life and such).
I just had that thought and felt like it was pretty neat. 🙂
